1.      To identify if there is CAP

3.      Helps in planning the rehabilitation stratergies
4.      Help in research e.g identify which area is responsible for which function in the brain.
5.      To predict benefit from amplification specially in elderly subjects
6.      Help to find out the age of neural maturation in normals as wll as deviant groups.
7.      It also help in monitoring the management program or to check the efficacy of rehabilitation program.
8.      Pre and post operating  tests can be done to see if there is effect on hearing of surgery
9.      Dichotic tests can also be used to find cerebral dominance.

THE BUFFALO MODEL

The Buffalo Model is a conceptualization of auditory processing disorders (APD) based on the results of a three-test battery . Each test takes a different look at auditory processing and together they provide more than 30 indicators that help to identify APD and what types of problems it represents. Audiologists have long been interested in the diagnosis of central auditory disorders; starting in the days when the focus was identifying site-of-dysfunction in patients with brain lesions (Bocca et al., 1954).
